GETTING THERE
With several flights daily from Madrid, Barcelona, and other major cities, flying into Palma, Mallorca, is the quickest way to get to Mallorca. However, it isn't the only way to get there!
FLIGHTS
The Palma de Mallorca International Airport (PMI) is conveniently located on the outskirts of Palma, the central city of Mallorca. Flights from the Spanish peninsula are 1-2 hours each way.

FERRY
For the adventurous, Mallorca is accessible by ferry from Barcelona, Valencia, and Denia. The ferry crossings are 5-7 hours. Some crossings accommodate vehicles for an additional fee—most ferries dock in Palma or Alcudia. The Alcudia Port is a short walk away from our recommended hotels.
GETTING AROUND
Most hotels offer transfer service from the airport. Once you arrive in Alcudia. You will notice it is quite walkable. From the recommended hotels, it's only a few blocks to the sea and about a 20-minute walk to the historic walled area.

In addition to walking, Mallorca has a robust public transportation system, accessible taxis, and car rentals.
Walking
Walking is our preferred method of transportation. We adore discovering the secret corners of whatever city we visit! We find that Apple Maps is the best app for walking from place to place, but Google Maps also works.
Public Transport
One of our favorite things about Spain is how accessible public transportation is. Mallorca has an excellent bus system for how small the island is.
Once you land, the A32 bus takes you from the airport to Alcudia Center. The journey takes about 60 minutes and will cost 8-14€ per person. The stop closest to the hotels in Port d'Alcudia 2. If you want to explore the rest of the island via public transport, we recommend using Apple Maps or Moovit.
*Important note: you must have coins in € for the bus.
Taxi
If public transport isn't for you, taxis are also available throughout the island.
You can grab a taxi at the airport, or you can pre-book your taxi here. The ride will be a flat rate of 100€. If you catch a cab at the airport, please confirm the price with the driver before getting into the car since some drivers add to the pre-set rates. If there is a concern about costs, each taxi should have a paper that outlines the maximum rate for a long-distance drive.
Car Rental
For independent travelers, renting a car is also a possibility. Don't worry, Spainairds also drive on the right side of the road. Most of the major chains in North America also exist in Spain. If you rent a car, please ensure you have an International Driving Permit. This can be obtained through AAA. It must be done in person. While most rental agencies will allow you to rent a car with your country's driver's license, traffic stops are common in Spain. You may be fined up to 600€ if caught without the proper permit!
